OMG the wine cooler is back! Bartles & James was our gateway beverage, but the thought of those sticky sweet coolers conjures up no fond memories, only those of house parties and first hangovers. Thankfully, like us, the wine spritzer has grown up and is pretty fabulous now. Freya Estreller, founder of Coolhaus artisanal ice cream shops & trucks, launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund her vision for an all-natural modern American spritz. She partnered with the founders of culty cocktail bars Death & Co. and Normandie Club to create a line of super small batch spritzers made with CA sparkling wine infused with real fruit, citrus and herbs. No sugar, no syrups, no preservatives. Nothing but fruit. We love them all, but this pink grapefruit beauty is our favorite. Lightly bubbly, with the delicate sweetness of elderflower balanced by tart freshness of grapefruit, cucumber, and a squeeze of lemon, this is the ultimate pool wine. Serve over ice and try not to gulp. It goes down way too easy.
