About Low Life Barrelhouse
Our focus is on Canadian hybrid varieties. We’ve partnered with grape farmers throughout Ontario to bring us the highest quality organic and biodynamic fruit. We work by hand, wines are fermented with natural yeast, have little to no sulfites and are unfiltered, unfined and without other additives. We want to bring the life and vibrancy of the beautiful vineyards we work with directly to bottle, with as little intervention as possible. We make a range of wines, but all of our wines are distinctively cool climate in style with fresh natural acidities, low alcohol levels and bright fruit.
We feel that hybrid grape varieties fit perfectly into our natural wine framework. While we work with the best organic fruit we can, it’s important to remember that even in organic viticulture, organic sprays are used to reduce disease and pest pressure on the vines. Many hybrid varieties require less spraying in general than typical wine grapes, even when farmed Conventionally. We believe that organically farmed hybrid grape varieties can have the least impact on the planet, and we love the wines they make too!
