2023 Big Basin Rosé

Region: Santa Cruz Mountains < California

Grapes: 49% Grenache + Carignan, Mourvedre, Syrah

Vineyard/Cellare Stats: From the certified organic Rodnick Farms vineyard in Chalone; 20-90 yr old vines on granite, limestone & calcareous shale soils; Grenache picked earlier + whole cluster pressed. "This was a high acid, low sugar year. Because of this great season, we were able to bleed off (saignee) some of this high acid, low sugar juice from our Carignan, Syrah and Mourvedre fermentations for use in our rose." Barrel fermented, no new wood. No filtration or fining; minimal added SO2; 12.8% 420 cases
