Super cool new natural wine project from father/daughter combo in Argentina!
Pielihueso, Spanish for “skin and bones”, began in 2017 when young Celina Bartolome convinced her organic farmer dad, Alejandro, to plant vines on the family farm in Los Chacayes and Los Sauces (both subregions of the Uco Valley located within Tunuyan). The wines are all farmed organically and made with no corrections, fermented with native yeast, with only a low addition of sulfur is added just before bottling. Even the (adorable) labels are a family affair - Carmela, Celina's sister, designed the labels which are based on their brother’s artwork.
We are most definitely not fans of Argentine Malbec, which is often big, clunky, sweet and high ABV, but this fun 50/50 Cab + Malbec blend is a whole different ballgame. Bouncy and bright, almost light, with smooth silky tannins, juicy, bright black fruit and a subtle layer or chocolate + spice, this wine can flex between chillable starter red, versatile BBQ pairing or late night sipper that won't weigh you down or crush your morning. Total crowd pleaser - stock up!
