The oldest archive pointing to the Lecointre family being vignerons in Anjou—a journal entry listing sales of wine in barrel—dates from 1779, but Lecointres have been farming grapes and making wine in the Loire Valley since at least the 16th century.  Cyrille is the 9th generation to farm grapes at the domaine; he took over the reins from his father after returning home from enology school, and quickly moved the estate into organic farming, achieving certification in 2016.  Raised in tank and meant to be drunk young with a light chill, 'Avant-Garde' is the domaine’s vin de soif.  It smells like Cab Franc, with those green, spicy notes, but the palate leans more towards juicy black fruit, pepper, and an herbal tomato water thing.  Fresh, easy, tasty food wine - try it lightly chilled with tacos!
