NEW VINTAGE ALERT! We love female winemakers (obviously), and Martha Stoumen is one of California’s rising stars in the low-intervention wine world. We’re also pretty stoked to find a light, fresh Zin-based wine that we actually want to drink. So this lady-made Zin/Carignan charmer is a grand slam for us. The unripened avocado scent of Zin and the bright wild fruit of Carignan make for a spectacularly versatile red. Martha says she never loved Zinfandel until she worked as Chris Brockway’s (of Broc Cellars) assistant, and discovered the exciting hibiscus and ruby red pomegranate flavors of the fruit, in the right hands.
Now, she's made her own beautiful Zin/Carig blend that’s feminine and energetic, and falls happily in the category of chillable reds. It's light and juicy, and tastes like hibiscus agua fresca with orange bitters and a float of pomegranate arials.
