2020 Domaine de l'Agramante Cuvée M'arricriu Côtes du Rhône Rouge
2020 Domaine de l'Agramante Cuvée M'arricriu Côtes du Rhône Rouge
Region: Côtes du Rhône < France
Grapes: Grenache 35%, Syrah 25%, Cinsault 30% and Counoise 10%
Vineyard/Cellar Stats: Organic farming on sandy/silt terraces with a very windy Mediterranean climate. The grapes were harvested by hand, 100% destemmed and lightly crushed. Fermentation temperatures were regulated and maceration lasted just six days with daily pump-overs. Each plot was kept separate and matured for five months in vats, before it was assembled just before bottling with no filtration and minimal added SO2; 12.5% ABV
Winemaker: Carlo La Rocca
- A Sicilian engineer working in France gives up the corporate job to make natural wine in the Southern Rhône Valley -- this is Carlo's wine origin story
- The cuvée name M'Arricriu' ('I enjoy life' in Sicilian) is an homage to the feeling that drove Carlo to uproot his life and dive head first into wine
- Spicy, bright and light (especially compared to most big Southern Rhône wines)
- Juicy blackberries, dried cherries and wild herbs and a soft bed of wet earth
