Killer zero-zero Pet-Nat from a social farming project in the hills of Soave!
We discovered this fantastic wine (with an even better story) on last summer's Italy research trip. We visited our friend Chiara of the certified organic Coffelle estate in Soave, and she was so excited to share their new collaboration project. Long story made short: she and her brother gave 1 hectare of their organic vineyards to Cascina Alba Terra, a local agricultural commune where people struggling with addiction of all kinds come to live and rehabilitate by working with the animals and the land. They are not government funded but support themselves by selling their jams, goat + sheep’s milk cheeses, vegetables and now, natural wine, thanks to the donated Garganega vineyards from the Coffelle family. The crew was so proud and excited to show us around and pour the two wines, a skin-contact Garganega and this happy little Pet-Nat. And no we're so proud and excited that a year later, we organized direct import of it and have 30 cases to share with Rock Juicers!
Oh how we love this adorable bottle of light, pretty, tongue-tickling bubbles! It smells as fresh and fruity as the commune's nectarine orchards in the morning dew. On the palate you get green apple and kumquat and more of those nectarines. No added sulfites here, but also no funk. Super clean + crushable! Makes the perfect apertivo or day-drinker. Pair with summer pool time or late night parties.
