2018 Viola Wine Cellars Traminer Aromatico
2018 Viola Wine Cellars Traminer Aromatico
Region: Columbia Gorge < Oregon
Grape: Gewurztraminer
Vineyard/Cellar Stats: Organic farming
Winemaker: Darryl Joannides
Darryl is a true gariste, makeing wine in his Portland garage. He loves Italian wine, so decided to focus on Italian varietals from Oregon. Sadly, the pandemic put his small business over the edge, and he has decided to stop making wine for the moment and move to the Columbia Gorge. So this is his last vintage, which is a total bummer, because the wines are rocking.
This one is all Gewurztraminer, but don't think sweet. It's bone dry, with a rich texture and intensely aromatic stone fruit and white flowers on the nose. These same aromatic fruit flavors along with candied ginger carry the palate, with a cool umami note on the finish.
