New Zealand's biodynamic guru James Millton (whose winery is also NZ's first certified organic/bioD) tends his self-sufficient, dry-farmed grapes on the dreamy island of New Zealand, where the cool maritime climate bathes them in coastal breezes and sea salt. So this crazy (it's in the name, folks) red/white co-ferment of traditionally voluptuous Malbec, Syrah and Viognier grapes is actually lean, lifted and super aromatic. There's an exotic mix of ripe, juicy cherry, black plum and red zinger tea laced with warm tarmac and a streak of something earthier and funkier. The acidity is electric, the tannins fine, and the high-toned red fruit abundant.
Deliciously wild and gulp-able, we’d definitely chill this down a touch and pop the cork (I mean, screwcap – we’re down under, after all!) and order a case for any upcoming festivities. It’s a bright and fresh glou glou, Kiwi-style, that goes with everything!
