Hank is a cool dude who makes a range of fantastic, organically farmed, and naturally made Cali wines. We love that he posts his farming and winemaking philosophy front and center on his website: LaClarineFarm.com. Almost as much as we love this wine, California glou-glou at its finest. Mo-Ma (short for Mourvedre-Marsanne) is a lively and delicious co-ferment of these two grapes – yes, red and white, all jumbled together – from volcanic soils. Beautiful orangey-red in color, the wine starts off smooth and silky, with plum, cherry and bitter orange Campari-esque notes, then expands in the mouth to finish rounder, with pepper, stone and herbs. It’s dangerously drinkable. After one sip, you will want another. And another. And another. Then whoops! The bottle’s gone! This is an all-occasion red to drink all summer long, preferably with a slight chill.
