From this most traditional Barolo estate in the heart of Piemonte, comes this summer gem that captures the Vajra family’s terroir and philosophy in a much easier to consume (and afford!) bottle. For those of you don’t consume Barolo on a daily basis (who does?), the Vajra family is one of the most respected in the region, and their Barolos outrank many of those that are more well-known. They farm organically, and deeply respect their land. Father, Aldo and his wife, Milena, are now working alongside their children who have taken on most operations of the winery and who continue this minimalist philosophy into the next generation. The Rosabella is a case in point. No sulfur added? This in a region where being organic is rare and sulfur use is still not even a topic of discussion among locals. And OMG this wine is incredible! Fresh cantaloupe and watermelon, with some sea salt, distinct minerality, and electric acidity, showing off the limestone soil. Complex and layered, yet super enjoyable to just drink.
