Another French-inspired table wine from our new favorite Oregon lady winemaker, Brianne Day. This is her loose take on the classic Alsatian field blend known as Edelswicker – which translates to ‘noble blend’, so called because it contains the “noble” varieties of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Muscat. She sources fruit from a number of organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards throughout the Willamette, with each vineyard being picked for its contribution to the overall blend – so some was picked for aromatics, some for acid, and some for fruit. The result is an aromatic, pretty wine, with a round, appley texture, floral notes and a touch of sweetness that is offset by dazzling acidity. Do not be scared by a bit of RS – this is what makes wine so good with a range of foods! Try this with brunch – it’s made for salads or something with a bit of fruit involved – or with anything spicy, like Thai or Indian food. Match made in heaven!
