Region: Bardolino < Veneto < Italy
Grapes: Corvina, Rondinella
Vineyard/Cellar Stats: Certified organic farming, hand harvested, grapes fermented separately and aged in stainless, saignée method
Winemaker: Matilde Poggi
Another wine from the young and talented Matilde Poggi, this is a pretty light peachy-pink rosé in the Provençal style. Made like the Provençal wines using the saignée method, which means the winemaker takes some of the juice from their red wine off the skins a little earlier, and ferments it separately. The short amount of time on the skins gives it a gorgeous pink color. Crisp and dry, and full of strawberries, which happen to grow wild in the vineyards, hence the estate’s name (Fraghe means wild strawberry in Italian). A beautiful and substantial rosé for Indian summer sipping. Brava Matilde!
