In 2007 the Renoux family bought the ruins of Chateau Landra, a once-splendid estate in the Ventoux region of the southern Rhone, and restored it to its former glory. The original estate’s motto, “Solis Solique Virtus Sola” (the only virtue of the sun and soil), is fitting, as Cecile and Frederic work with the utmost respect for the land and the fruit, using zero chemicals or additives in farming or winemaking. This is your Spring BBQ wine: some smoke and black pepper, dried herbs, bright bing cherry and black plum fruit and a chalky, mineral backbone that keeps things from getting jammy. This is so easy and versatile it would totally work in a red Solo cup.
