Winemaker: Ben Herod

Nue Wilde is the new project from our friend Ben, formerly of Oro en
Paz.  He's sourcing fruit from organic vineyards and making wine in an
old-school, hands off fashion.  The grapes for this Cab hail from a
small vineyard in the newly designated Clements Hills AVA in Lodi,
farmed organically by the Busalacchi family.  It's a fantastic little
corner of of the Sierra Foothills for viticulture, with the cool
summer breezes off the San Francisco Bay delta giving a 30 to 40
degree diurnal temperature swing (the temp range from day and night),
which allows the grapes to retain good acid levels while gracefully
maturing.

We've been searching for a good, old school, low ABV Cali Cab made
according to our natural standards - which is surprisingly hard to
find.   But this one checks every box.  Super bright, medium-bodied,
earthy, and honest, with classic cedar, brambly, dusty red fruit, and
intense forest floor undertones.  Soft, light tannins and a round,
lengthy finish make it both user-friendly and memorable.  It drinks
beautifully now, but this has the legs to age, if you have that much
self-restraint.  Friends, meet your new clean Cab swap!
