NEW VINTAGE ALERT (AND LOWER PRICE!)

We had the pleasure of meeting Angelo and his wife Letizia this summer on our trek through Italy.  Their certified biodynamic estate in Umbria, owned by Angelo’s family since 1925, is home the family's beautiful vineyards as well as olive groves, a gorgeous flock of goats, chickens, pigs, and a few horses. They have always worked organically and got their biodynamic certification in 2008.  In the early days, they worked with the natural wine guru, Danilo Marcucci, to hone zero-zero cellar practices.

We first tasted Bullarum, their crazy pet'nat, with Angelo and Letizia themselves, after walking their vineyards in the 107º heat under the Umbrian sun.  So, of course, it tasted like the most refreshing, magical elixir we could imagine.  And it was just as good when we revisited in stateside a few weeks ago.  Because the grapes are picked early the teriyaki pineapple notes typical of Trebbiano Spoletino are muted here, leaving a lightly honied, zippy mouthful of lemon peel, salt spray, and Sour Patch Kids.  Tiny production, they only make 166 cases for the whole world, and we got one.  Get yours now.
