Winemakers: Johanna Jensen and Jack Roberts

Winemakers Jack Roberts (Matthiasson Wines Assistant Winemaker) and
Johanna Jensen (formerly with Scholium Project and Broc Cellars) are
the husband & wife team behind this tiny winery based in Napa, which
they work on the side while keeping their day jobs.  Sourcing organic
(or better) fruit from some sweet NorCal vineyard sites, they do all
of the work themselves from vineyard management  to bottling, the true
vigneron tradition to make small lots of interesting wines, preferring
less ripe fruit and minimal manipulation.  As a result, Keep wines are
refreshing light and honest, like this elegant light red.  From the
certified-organic David Girard Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills, they
get just 1.5 tons of Counoise (an obscure French varietal), which they
ferment carbonically.  The result is pure juice box.  Translucent red
with a hint of orange in color, it has beautiful red cherry,
pomegranate and strawberry fruit with good structure and acidity.
It's somehow light and luscious at the same time, and tastes
nostalgic, sort of like Smucker's strawberry jelly (the
fruit-sweetened kind) swirled into cola and slurped through a red
liquorice straw.
