since arriving from Chile; alluvial riverbed soils mixed with red
volcanic soils; de-stemmed, Native fermentation occurred on skins for
11 days and then finished in neutral barrel with full mL; remained in
neutral barrel for 10 months before transferring back to tank for one
month before bottling, unfined/unfiltered with minimal added So2;

John and Alisa Koehnen founded Koehnen Wine Company in 2015 with a
focus on making diverse orange wines from across California, and
they've since expanded into natty wines of all colors. Their focus is
on organically farmed vineyards, with minimal intervention, and
varying skin contact time. John worked for Revel (a wine distributor
in SF) for years, which is how he got to know Kenny from Hobo Wine Co
and created the relationship for this project. Kenny does the
production while John writes the album so to speak. The labels are all
photos that John took.

This is Sauvignon Blanc on the skins, an entry-level orange wine with
a comparatively brief maceration period, providing a unique texture
and layers of flavor without getting too tannic. It's all warm
tropical fruit  (mango and passion fruit) followed by a floral tea and
tart grapefruit.  There's something sexy and languid about this wine,
which practically begs to be enjoyed at mid-day, by a pool, somewhere
exotic.  STAFF FAVORITE.
