Winemaker: Marco Marrocco

Marco’s family owned this pristine vineyard land, in a medieval hill town on the border between Lazio and Campania, for generations.  His grandfather basically sold out to international varieties and sold off much of the grapes, but in 2010 Marco Marocco, an engineer, took over the 3.5 hectares of vineyard land, returned to school (at age 37) to get his Italian Somm and Oenology degrees, then headed off to make wine in Bordeaux. When he returned to his land a few years later, Marco revived abandoned, ancient vines that had been grown there for centuries. Like Lecinaro, featured here in this brand new 1L pet natty crusher that literally just landed!

From hillside vineyards in the ancient hill town of Arce, this Lecinaro is made to be the easy drinking table wine you wish you had an endless supply of: ever so slightly effervescent but not quite sparkling, this big bottle of happiness tastes like dried plums and sour cherries, surrounded by spicy notes of chocolate and black pepper and lifted by the trapped CO2 that tickles your tongue.  Light, fresh, juicy and so refreshing with a chill - good thing it comes in a liter bottle, because this bad boy goes fast.  Hello, summer!
